The only part I love about turning the clocks back in Fall is the extra hour of sleep and pretending I'm a functioning morning person. I get so much done! Like working up these preliminary dinosaur doodles for a side project I'm partnering on. I'm super excited about it, but want to work out my crappy dinosaur drawings first. I'm planning the next round of dinosaurs will be started in pencil, inked and colored. These are just to loosen up. More of an exercise than legit work. But they're fun and if I don't use them on this project, I'll use 'em for something else. They're also doing double-duty as a NaNoDrawMo post. I do love dinosaurs. Don't you?
It's November! Time for NaNoDrawMo! A quick description:
50 drawings in 30 days!
Inspired by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), NaNoDrawMo is a personal challenge to push would-be artists beyond the bounds of comfortable "when I have time" practice for one month and see what happens.
Loosely defined goals are for each participant to produce 50 individual works/drawings between Nov 1 and Nov 30. You can always do more than 50 if you've got it in you! That's just the minimum everyone should be shooting for.
You do not have to be good. There is no quality requirement. The idea is to force yourself to practice by setting a high quantity goal. Also, it’s not a competition (except with yourself). Any medium is OK.
I'll be posting my NaNoDrawMo posts here as well as on Flickr. I'm going to make it to 50 this year, I can feel it! I also bought some new inks, new pens and nibs, and a new paintbrush to celebrate! Let the fun begin!
